Giveaway - A Stray Drop of Blood by Roseanna White

If you like Women’s Fiction, Historicals, and/or Biblical Fiction, you will love this book! It is very well written, dynamic, intensely emotional, and will make you think. If you ever wondered what life was like in the time when Jesus lived on the earth, how the different cultures clashed, and the different roles of the various classes, such as servants, slaves, and masters, or if you just want to read a really intense, true-to-life story, this book is definitely for you.

As the back cover says, Beautiful is a dangerous thing to be when one is unprotected. Abigail is beautiful, and although she was born a free Jew in Jerusalem in the time of Jesus, as a child she is sold as a slave to a Roman centurion. Through all the twists and turns of her life, she comes to believe in Jesus on the day of his crucifixion and her life takes on new meaning and new joy.

Though not a romance, which is what I usually read, it does have some romance in it, and is only for mature readers. But it carries a powerful message—more than one powerful message, actually. I predict great things from this author!

To get your name in the drawing for this book, please leave a comment with your email address. Thanks!

Thanks, Melanie! So glad you enjoyed it--even though it's not a true romance;-) (That's what I usually read too--such a sucker for romance!)

Roseanna, it gives me goosebumps to see your book all over the place, girl, but I am SO totally not surprised. I loved it when I read it, and it's one of the few stories whose characters and plot STILL haunts me today when I think of it. You have a winner here, Roseanna, and I pray God blesses the socks off of you!

Mel, love, love, LOVE your new look in your blog! Tall, peaked windows looking out on a lush countryside is drop-dead gorgeous! Great pic!!

And, please save Roseanna's book for someone else to enjoy ... I have an original! Na-na-na-na-na! :)

Hey, SteelerGirl! Good to see my almost-nearby-Pennsylvanian again. =)

And Julie, I am soooo laughing at your na-na-na-na;-) Yes, you have an original with a truly awful cover--but as soon as I have enough copies to spare, you'll be getting a shiny new one since you're an endorser. =) And, as always, I get a little flutter inside from your praise.

That sounds really intriguing....I am curious what type of mature factor is in it? Like descriptive or just more adult type content?

The issues raised--like slavery, and in particular the fact that a master had rights to the body of a female slave. Sexual issues are very present, but the scenes aren't explicit.

(You readers can feel free to add to that, but I have an inability to leave a question unanswered for three seconds, lol.)

One of my readers did let her teenage daughter read it, since the passion is countered by the moral consequences.

Martha asked about why I said it was for mature readers. I just meant it wouldn't be appropriate for, say, young teens. It is very realistic and shows that slaves were not treated very well, and women were often sexually assaulted and abused. It isn't really explicit, but the truth is there.
